Why join the Holy Cross choir?
Because the Holy Cross Children’s choir is more than just singing:
-
Children’s choir gives children the opportunity to serve their church and a chance to minister to others through music.
-
Working as a team with the same goal, children develop a sense of leadership, discipline, self-control, commitment, and ultimately build a Christian character.
-
In our rehearsals, besides learning new songs, we focus on learning musical skills that aid children’s intellectual development.
-
Children will be able to deepen their friendships with other children in the parish and community at large in a safe, structured, and fun environment.
-
Participating in our parish music ministry is a beautiful way to share our God’s given talents with others.
”Next to the word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world. It controls our hearts, minds, and spirits. ” Martin Luther
The Young People's Choir of Holy Cross (YPC) is new to our church and its mission is to provide for young people to give praise and honor to the Lord by lifting their voices in joyful song and to enhance the Eucharistic Liturgy once a month and on special occasions.
The YPC is open to all students parishioners or non-parishioners grades 8-12. The YPC will sing at the 12 pm Sunday mass (1st Sunday of the month).
Rehearsals are on the 1st Sunday of each month at 10:45 am.
Cantors may rehearse extra on separate days.
All students will be taught a wide variety of liturgical music including Latin, proper vocal technique, notes, use of dynamics, singing in harmony, interpretation, and how to find the meaning behind each song.
Come JOIN the YPC and praise the Lord with the gift of your voice!
The Contemporary Ensemble provides musical leadership through contemporary song and praise at the Saturday 5pm Mass with a 4pm rehearsal prior to Mass.
The Contemporary Ensemble is made up of a cantor, pianist, and guitar players. We are always looking for volunteer cantors to lead the assembly in song.
The primary role of the cantor is to proclaim the Responsorial Psalm at Mass. Cantors also sing the verse to the Gospel Acclamation, as well as hymns and service music with the congregation.
To become a cantor an audition will be necessary.
Instrumentalists are also welcomed to join our Contemporary Ensemble. An audition will be necessary.
